HISTORY OF THE BULIDING 1935 - 2009
Martha’s Guest house is a three bed roomed redbrick bungla, was designed and constructed by an Indian who survived the man eaters of Tsavo lion that killed many Indian railway construction works.
This was the first permanent building in a forest that was initially occupied by wild animals.
Most interesting is the interest the royal family placed in the owner of this historical building who was a railway employee. It is amazing that her highness princess Margret traveled from Britain to come and congratulate the railway work.
84 years later the building is still intact and offering country accommodation to tourists. |
